We will be snowshoeing on the northern section of the Westside Overland trail. This is a pretty section of trail that goes through reforestation areas, with some moderate hills and along gentle streams. It will be about 5 miles, depending on conditions and the groups ability, easy-moderate difficulty. If you are a beginner, I think you would enjoy this trail. We will have lunch along the trail and then hike back to the cars. Meet at Tops (formerly Quality Market) in Mayville on Route 394 at 10am. From there we will carpool to the trail parking area on Rt 430. Be sure to bring a lunch and water. Please let me know if you plan to attend so we wait for you or can contact you if there is a change of plans.

Come out and join Tom Meara on a snowshoe hike at the southern end of the Westside Overland trail on Saturday Feb 11th. Meet at 10 AM at the parking area on 474 just west of Panama. From there, we will shuttle cars to the southern most point of the trail on Townline Road and hike back to the parking lot. This scenic section of the trail goes through a large area of NYS Reforestation area. The total distance will be about 4.75 miles. Dress for the weather conditions and bring a lunch and water. This would be a nice event even if you are a beginner. Please contact Tom at the email address below for more info.

Chautauqua County Hiking Club Annual Meeting

The annual meeting of the Chautauqua County Hiking Club will be Saturday December 10th. Yvonne and Dave have generously volunteered to host this years event. The meeting will be at 10:30 am, followed by a pot luck lunch. Please bring a dish to pass. Everyone is invited. Many new people have joined the mailing list over the past year. Please come out and meet the rest of the group. For the rest of the regulars, come catch up with each other. Bring your ideas for future outings as well as thoughts for what direction you see the club taking in the future. Come enjoy the early fall foliage! Eastside Overland Trail. Our hike will be at the southern end of the Eastside Overland Trail in Gerry NY. We will be passing through mostly wooded areas, that are NYS forest land. It will be moderate hilly terrain and may be a bit muddy. Plan to have (bring) lunch along the trail. Total distance is approx. 7 miles. We will be meeting at the Country Fair Convenient Store on Rt 60 in Gerry NY at 10AM. Please let me know if you plan to join me.
